Bardel Armin

Armin Bardel was born on June 8, 1965 in Wolfsberg, Carinthia/Austria. he studied Agriculture, Philosophy & Social Sciences in Vienna, and Photography in Santa Cruz, California, with Victor Burgin, Norman Locks, Mike Mandel, Ingeborg Gerdes & Geoffrey Batchen. 1993 Bardel completed university with a thesis on "Computer, Photography, and the Images Of Reality" with Herbert Hrachovec.
Armin Bardel is mostly self-taught, having participated in workshops in Austria with Johannes Faber, Bodo Hell, Seiichi Furuya and Karin Mack, as well as in the Czech Respublic with Jindrich Streit and Pavel Banka. since 2000 he has been working as a freelance artist in various media (graphics, objects, writing & music), but mainly focussing on photography. commission-work includes stage photography, portrait, documentary, architecture & environmental projects. Bardels' work was bought by the Austrian Ministry for Art in 2009, and the city of Vienna in 1999. he was artist in residence in Budapest in 2002 as well as in Rome in 2010. working and living in Vienna and Lower Austria.
